I have started a page on Facebook, I WANT EQUALITY FOR WOMEN UNDER THE CONSTITUTION IN THE USA and I invite you to make whatever comment you want to.
I believe in Freedom of Speech, which allows you to say exactly how you feel about this important issue, whether you are man, a woman, a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent.
I want to know that YOU VOTE. THE USA, leader of the free world, has a very poor voter turn out record, and we are all equally to blame for the fact that we have allowed major corporations such control in the US and the rest of the world, except possibly China. And perhaps, they'll get fed up and either make a take-over bid for the rest of world altogether; or stop major corporations from ruining the countries where they sell many of their goods.

'Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution. The ERA was originally written by Alice Paul and, in 1923, it was introduced in the Congress for the first time. In 1972, it passed both houses of Congress, but failed to gain ratification before its June 30, 1982 deadline."
Men and women shall have equal rights throughout the United States and every place subject to its jurisdiction.
Five states rescinded their ratifications before the deadline:- IDAHO (where such delicious potatoes are grown).[12** KENTUCKY (HRH Queen ELIZABETH 11 will be fine visiting (I think that she buys horses from this State as well as attends the Kentucky Derby, which she does so; not as a HRH The Queen however, as a private citizen: because she is British, she is a Queen, and as a woman has had Equal Rights in the UK since 1976 - I hope as a women she is not unwelcome there? * NEBRASKA * TENNESSEE Now I know for a fact, that Johnny Cash would not be pleased that his cherished wife, June Carter Cash; in particular; was not equal under the US Constitution. As for the rest of the women in his life, I know he treated them and everyone else I saw him meet, equally. Johnny Cash may not have been a saint at times, however, he was always a good man. South Dakota and if you want to go on vacation and learn a lot about US history, this is a great state to visit http://www.blackhillsbadlands.com/..............
The remaining 10 States that failed to ratify it on a variety of grounds; all neatly provided for you in Wikipedia (and in different languages!); are Florida; Illinois; Louisiana; Missouri; Nevada (WHAT!?); North Carolina; South Carolina (and I so love the accentsj especially that latter's); Oaklahoma (Annie Oakley would not have liked that at all And what about "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" - without women there would be no men - yes, I know some of you can come up with all the reasons against my argument, that only women can have children naturally - heard them, been there, done that - thank you!); Virginia (State Flower "American Dogwood"; both a flower and a tree; one which Michael Douglas has such a problem in his role as US President in giving to the lovely Annette Benning; and ah - Utah. "Say no more", as Monty Python might say. Just like any State I have visited, and any religion I have learned about
Anyway, if you want to read the entire history of which state, did what and when, and why, you will realize that women came extremely close to being equal to men; which they are anyway, we just each have different talents. Speak different languages, are short, medium height, taller, very much taller - you get the picture. We are definitely ALL EQUAL IN DEATH.
From the UK originally; I truly appreciate that I learned early that we are all equal. I was fortunate enough to go an all girls' school (however, there were boys across the road, I could throw shoes to and we also had one male teacher who taught maths) that I luckily did not burn down, when I set fire to the boiler room. My class mates had different coloured skins (I have tan colour freckles with white skin; unless I've forgotten sun block and my nose glows red and shiny in the cold), were from different countries; practiced different religions and altogether; we were a very mixed bunch of girls.
I did eventually learn a little about the psychology of prejudice, and understand that I am very fortunate not to have much prejudice; and whether I have that prejudice is based on the individual, not a group.
I am not and never have been a feminist. I guess I was just plain lucky that my Dad and my brother were the main characters in my early life - they could do some things better than me, and I could do some things better than them I am sorry I did not have the opportunity to have children; although have to admit that with the world currently in such a state I am sort of glad I didn't, however, have lots of family and friends that do and I care for them.
To close, I choose to use, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things, I cannot change, the courage to change the things I CAN, and the WISDOM to know the difference." .................and my version of the St. Francis prayer, which I often muddle up (actually there are various versions of it anyway), so please bear with me:- "God (or whoever is your higher power) make me a channel of thy peace, that where there is sadness I may bring joy, that where there are shadows, I may bring in the light, that where there are errors, I may seek the truth, that where there is hatred I may bring love, that where there is doubt, I may bring faith, that where is despair I may bring HOPE, for it is in learning to understand, that I will be understood, in learning to forgive, that I will be forgiven, in learning to let go - that I will find my true self, and that in learning to love, I will be loved, and in learning not to hate, I will not be hated.
